It's an unpleasant situation to be in but the first thing you should do is call the police and then your insurance company. They'll both need to know:

1. Your name and address
2. The car's registration number, make and colour
3. Where you left your car
4. When you last left you car and the time of your return
5. If you left anything valuable or important in the car
