We can all do something...

At AutoUseful, we believe that we can all play an active role in helping combat climate change and the environmental impact of our business. This year we are rolling out our environmental policy, which will focus on five key areas:

Environmental motoring advice

We're introducing an Environmental motoring advice section into our general motoring advice area so that customers will be able to learn how to drive more efficiently. Not only will this help them minimise the release of harmful emissions but could also benefit them financially.

Environmental office practice

By the end of the year, we hope to have a simple wind turbine attached to the roof of our office in Wingham. This should be sufficient to power our telephones, faxes and computer systems. We will also recycle paper and plastic waste, while all stationery and marketing materials will be produced on recycled paper.

Carbon off-setting calculator

We will research and introduce a carbon off-setting calculator. This means drivers visiting our website will be able to work out the environmental impact their journey has and take steps to eradicate their carbon footprint.

Company vehicle fuel

We aim to source and then trial the use of biodiesel in company vehicles. In doing so, we will reduce our dependence on petroleum-based products and, at the same time, reduce the amount of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and exhaust particulates emitted into the atmosphere.

Warehouse and packaging

Wherever possible we aim to reuse all in-coming packaging that enters our warehouse. Packaging received may be shredded and used as padding in out-going orders and boxes will simply be reused in their current state. This places the recycling emphasis on the customer who can simply use the recycling services provided by their local council.
